Eating fish reduces the risk of getting cancer and heart disease claims research.
Eating omega-3 fatty acids or other food items reduces the risk of death due to cancer or cardiovascular diseases. In one study, this claim has been made.
In this new study, 2,40,729 men and 1,80,580 women studied for 16 years. Of this, 54,230 men and 30,882 women died during this period. According to the study, a significant relationship was seen between fishes and omega-3 fatty acids and decrease in total mortality rates.
Researchers at the Jinjiang University of China found that the men who consumed much of the fish were found to be 9 percent of mortality rate and 10 percent decrease in death due to heart-related diseases. At the same time, the probability of the death from cancer decreased by six percent and a decrease of respiratory death by 20 percent. This study has been published in the journal Internal Medicine.
Victoria Taylor, of the British Heart Foundation, said: “Coronary heart disease is the UK’s single biggest killer, devastating the lives of millions of people each year.
